Skin care products meet a double challenge: they have to resist contamination by adventitious micro-organisms, and they have to maintain the existing micro-flora (aka microbiome). In addition to this, changes in micro-biome are associated with undesired skin conditions.
This 90-minute, accredited training will
– Provide some insight into a few human microbiota (guts, vagina, skin, solid tumors)
– Inspect the resident microorganisms, their enzymes, and metabolites in the stratum corneum
– Describe the interest of these micro-organisms for cosmetic products and for maintaining a healthy state of the epidermis
– Provide examples for selective interventions
– Discuss the relevance of preservatives
